¡Feliz día de Acción de Gracias! This year I have a lot to be thankful for, and being thousands of miles away from home has only accentuated for whom or what I am grateful. It’s strange waking up on Thanksgiving Day, one of the most cherished American holidays, and pretending it is just a regular day. A trip to the biggest supermarket in Algeciras proved unsuccessful in providing any turkey-day essentials, so for my first time in, well, ever, I won’t be gorging myself on this fourth Thursday of November, watching football, drinking wine and playing Bunco with the fam. Nonetheless, it’s raining today in the South of Spain, so in some odd way I feel almost at home…as if God brought me a little piece of Seattle to repel any homesickness.
Being away from friends and family on this day has only made me love and appreciate you more. Thank you for touching my life someway, somehow.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
