Great thing about living in Spain #431? Access to some of the world’s best wine, for a 1/4 of the price you’d pay for it in the States. Here’s a guide to Rioja wines, categorized by oak aging. Rioja is a wine region in the North of Spain, containing over 14,000 vineyards (referred to as bodegas in Spain) which yield over 250 million liters of wine yearly.
So why is Spanish wine even worth mentioning? Simply because it’s an integral part of Spanish cuisine and culture, so much that a meal in Spain isn’t considered complete until accompanied by wine. Spain is also world-famous for it’s Cava (cousin to champagne) from Catalonia and Sherry wines from Jerez.
