What I’ll Miss About the Andalusian Summer

After a few blissful months of sunbathing on the beach and dips in the pool, balanced out with a healthy workload and visiting family to keep me busy, September has arrived. In Spain, that means the best part of the year is coming to a close. Schools are starting up, businesses resume their normal hours, and beaches lose their sun-baked crowds. Summer in Spain is...

20 Things I’ve Learned About Spaniards

Posted by on Jun 12, 2012 in Blog, Expat Life | 3 comments

Toledo, Spain I’ve spent enough time in Spain to say I’ve learned a thing or two about Spaniards. This year, though I added just one new country to my list, I added many new destinations and explored my adopted country even more thoroughly. January I started off 2011 fresh from a Christmas visit in my hometown of Seattle. I rang in the New Year in the gorgeous waterfront pueblo of Lekeitio in Basque Country and made several return trips throughout the year. I also returned to Sevilla to explore and it grew on me even more. February A beach escape to Albuefeira,...

Friday Photos: Lights

Posted by on Sep 23, 2011 in Blog, Travel Photography | 0 comments

I decided to participate in Twitter’s #FriFotos this week, and the theme is LIGHTS. #FriFotos is played weekly and encourages photographers, from amateurs to pros to submit a photo according to the theme. These are then tweeted and shared across Twitter, as well as posted on blogs. Without further ado, here’s my interpretation of this week’s theme: At the yearly summer feria (fair) in Algeciras, Spain. Ornate lights decorate the entire fairground. Entrance to the fair is through this gate. A more elaborate feria, located an hour away in Jerez de la Frontera, took place in May. How...
